Ignorant and Arrogant Police Brazenly Violate Law

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

Note:

Several police officers take it upon themselves to detain Philip Turner to force him to produce identification, even though they tell him that they know he is a first amendment auditor.  (They disparage his YouTube legal education and tell him “this isn’t working out like you expected”.

When a cop says he’s not gonna argue with you, it’s because he knows he’s violating your rights and that he’s wrong. He’ll just throw you in a cage regardless, and let you have your day in court. Take away their precious qualified immunity, and watch the magic happen.

  • Sadly, this cop has been doing this to citizens for years, totally ignorant of the law. They, however, messed with the wrong guy.
  • I love it when an arrogant tyrant is SO sure of himself he openly mocks someone who knows the law and his mouth walks himself right off the cliff. His frequent comments about YouTube and his “I know this isn’t working out like you expected” comment is just icing on the cake. I’m having a very hard time not jumping to the original video… so I hope Part 3 is out soon! 😂😉👍
  • Wow this officer’s ignorance of the law is embarrassing and his arrogance is shameful! This video will follow him for the rest of his career.
  • I can’t imagine how many lives this cop has ruined and I hope he is no longer in a position of authority and no longer has the ability to interact with anyone.
  • The “1 bad apple” philosophy is probably the scariest part of this for me. As a sargent the amount of other officers he may have influenced is terrifying. When you multiply that exponentially to who those officers have influenced it seems the cancer of ignorance is going to spread far faster than the education he received here.
  • “Investigatively Detained?” In other words, we have no lawful reason so we’re trying to find one. 🤷
  • One of the things I love about Batman is , he is a bonafide auditor. A real auditor is never afraid of being arrested when he or she knows the law is on his/her side. Stand your ground and get paid later. What baffles me is the prosecutors who actually agree to prosecute cases like these. If a prosecutor is stupid enough to accept a case like this, he or she should be disbarred.
  • I’ve learn so much watching these videos. I’m baffled as to why there are so many audit videos showing Officers who clearly has no knowledge of the law, violating the rights of citizens and yet there has been no changes to Law Enforcement at all. There are some good cops but 95% of them are nothing more than ignorant bullies with a badge and gun.
  • Good grief, the condescending attitude is just DRIPPING off of this cop. He couldn’t be any more arrogant and aloof if he tried.
  • The “pat down” in itself is a violation of the fourth amendment. They had no ras of a crime, no ras of a weapon and no ras that you are dangerous. Therefore no lawful terry stop or terry frisk. Both are four amendment violations and the in pocket search was the third violation.
  • They are so intoxicated with their opportunity to use force, they imagine their interpretation of law is absolute.
  • I’m sure they were thinking they will record with your camera, for you, to show off that they are not kicking the crap out of you, like they normally do.
  • We will violate your rights until we get what we want …….. earning the hate
  • This man is brilliant. I don’t know how he kept a straight face knowing the ramifications of the situation and the way the officer did all of his work for him
  • 4:004:36 The cop’s rant is priceless and unfortunately for him will live forever. The level of disdain and ignorance is astounding, but unfortunately, common. The stupidity on display…..wow.
  • Qualified Immunity. That’s why they do what they do. Sovereign citizens
  • The officer’s arrogant confidence suggests the “Dunning–Kruger effect” (https://youtu.be/VyipktSZUlQ) is in play. Turner’s quiet confidence, on the other hand, demonstrates genuine competence.
  • 4:11 We all know what he meant by that. These cops are criminals/bullies with badges.
  • So this officer is essentially saying he’s been violating citizens rights a lot longer than you’ve been exercising yours. What a damn shame. Hopefully his retirement is right around the corner!
  • They knew who he was.! Was clearly a violation of his rights! It was totally because they knew he is a 1st amendment auditor and are trying to punish him.
  • I love how this ignorant cop keeps saying he’s not going to argue Or debate this, because at the end of the day he knows he’s wrong.
  • It’s amazing how confident he is, I’ve never seen someone so confident that they are completely right but in reality he’s 100% wrong.
  • He keeps telling the other officers to do the stuff he wants to do. Wtf. Do it yourself. You afraid of losing that qualified immunity?
  • suspicion is not a crime and filming in public has been deemed, by the supreme court, a non-suspicious activity and protected under the law and constitution.
  • I think the reason these cops were so bold and seemed to relish helping you record had nothing to do with them understanding ANY of your rights…in my opinion it’s all about them believing they can get away with anything they do!
  • He doesn’t want to argue or debate, because he knows he will lose. I would love to read every cops report on this incident? I wonder how many lies!
  • I am always amazed at how good auditors stay so completely calm. I hope you end up with a civil rights case because when these just go away by having a complaint go into a file things won’t ever change
  • It’s refreshing to see this police officer inform you of who you are and what you’re all about involving YouTube just to get clicks and views can’t wait for part 3
  • Love your break down. You’d think the cops would use this as a training video, but they are too arrogant, and too stupid to learn from their bountiful lies, violations of TX law and violations of Tx penal code.
  • After years of getting glee watching some cop watchers, 1A auditors, and then getting burned out and getting irritated with it all, I can say Battousai stands the test of time. No one being honest can say he’s being problematic, he is straight forward and as Texans would say a “straight shooter”. In fact, if I were to hear he resisted or was combative or inflammatory I would know it’s horse shit. Batman is an S tier auditor/cop watcher.
  • This is the type of cop that they need to use as an example make an example out of him by firing him if he doesn’t know the law
  • He literally admitted that he has been violating rights longer than you have been doing youtube.
  • They think they’re not giving you want you want just because they’re not being physically violent.
  • As a veteran I was fortunate to be able to serve overseas going to Kuwait and patrolling the boarder to Iraq. I’m proud to have served to protect our country and constitution and what it stands for and if it means anything to you, I’m proud of you too. You’re professionalism and bearing exuded towards these bullies is commendable . I want to thank you for your service. Respect…
  • I’m uncomfortable with how he’s feeling you up. Why he keep touching your junk again and again
  • They just know they aren’t accountable for breaking the law and or violating the people’s civil rights. that’s why they recorded this interaction with your own cell, it’s a way of saying we’re above the law and there’s nothing you can do about it. BULLIES WITH A BADGE.
  • What a pack of cowards! Afraid of one unarmed man, that they feel they need to lock his arms behind his back. Pure cowardice.
  • I’m sure they were thinking they will record with your camera, for you, to show off that they are not kicking the crap out of you, like they normally do.
  • Guaranteed these same cops are doing exactly the same today to people who don’t know their rights
  • They’re just not smart enough to figure it out, and knowing there will be no consequences for their actions, there’s no reason to waste their time learning it. Harass, violate, repeat.
  • Once they start, their ego will not allow them to back down. They will keep trying to get you to willingly ID. Please never ID when you know there is no law broken.
  • Unbelievable he‘s holding you hostage they’re not taking you to jail they’re holding you hostage in their car until you ID to them wow the corruption is thick in the officers listening to this bullies orders will soon will regret it
  • This totally validated the Auditing community for doing what they do. There is a very strong need to fix what we see here. Cops either totally not knowing the law or cops totally violating peoples rights thinking it will be with impunity.
  • ID is like crack to a cop. Haha. Good one. I’ve always wondered how an ID helps their investigation 99% of the time.
  • I’ve been watching these videos now for like 4 years I have not seen one cop especially the ones who said they know the law better than you who actually knows the law what is the ignorance where does it come from their schooling their training their pride their what????!!!
  • To think you can identify a guy for filming and that’s suppose to let you know what he’s doing 😆 strip a law abiding citizen of his freedom because they feel like it smh
  • It’d be interesting to wear only a gold thong while auditing and see if they still frisk you for weapons and ID.
  • This tyrant is drunk on power.
This guy likes to talk, but makes his goons do all the violating. Maybe it was a secrete audit. He says all the wrong things on purpose to see if his subordinates would do the right thing and question him. The officer who went in your pockets and the officer who buckled you in did cross those lines by themselves.
0:15, Guys go ahead and frisk him.
1:25, If he wont do it willingly handcuff him.
2:28, If he has an ID we have every right to look at it.
3:59, Go ahead and put him in handcuffs and we can do it (detain him) until we find him on the system.
5:50, Hook him up. (that sounds like an arrested to me)
8:44, Have him sit in the back of the car and lets go ahead an figure out who he is. Handcuffed and buckled up in a police cruiser, a reasonable person would believe they are under arrest not simply detained. But they did put you in the front seat so maybe a little gray area.
  • So voluntarily give up a right or forcefully have it violated… Ah thats how freedom works
  • If they repeatedly bring up the YouTube videos and see what the outcomes are. It shows they are unwilling to educate themselves and need to be removed from the position.
  • As kids we had terms for people who cried about every little thing. We called them piss ant crybabies. The majority of these cops are just trying to protect our community. If you stop messing with them maybe you will have time to invent a robot that wont make mistakes. But until then, having human cops is as good as it gets.
  • I have never been a proponent of defunding the police. I am still not one. However I am for abolishing qualified immunity for any officer that violates the freedom of a law abiding citizen. If this is protecting and serving then we need to let those officers go because who can point out the good officers in this situation? For those who say just comply with unlawful, unconstitutional orders. You are a part of the problem. Law enforcement work for the citizens they are not nor should they ever be considered overlords. When that happens, we no longer have a free society. We then are worse than Hitler or Mao.
  • They need a crime to detain you and for a Terry stop. A Terry stop is a frisk, not a search.
  • What’s really funny is the fact that I’m from Pa. And I know what Tx. 38.02 is! LOL!!!! These cop’s are a absolute joke!!!
    • England here, we’re all up to speed with 38.02 means and we’re on a different continent. 😁🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
  • When you’re wrong, you don’t want to argue. That makes sense.
  • Hey Batt- I love what you do and respect you for it. I am a 25+ year professional and degreed journalist- I don’t say that to diminish non-journalist 1A rights… no journalist has more rights than a private citizen. Conversely, no citizen has less rights than a journalist. My favorite 1A audits are the totally silent ones. A lot of “auditors” say they are going to be silent, but almost none ever remain silent. But a few have, and it was glorious. (In states that are not stop and ID.) I do know, however, that POC have to be more careful in every regard. (Lots of cameras and friends with cameras far away.)
  • I am always amazed at how good auditors stay so completely calm. I hope you end up with a civil rights case because when these just go away by having a complaint go into a file things won’t ever change
  • 6:28 “Texas is not a stop and ID state.” The cop then says “OK, Thanks for telling me the law. Let me tell you whats going to happen. we’re going to detain you until we have properly identified you”. He’s basically said that he’s going to ignore the law and carry on regardless. He definitely thinks he’s a sovereign citizen who can make up his own laws.
  • COP – “The code of criminal procedure gives us that authority”.
  • Supreme Court – No it doesn’t.
  • cop -“this isn’t going to go according to your you tube education…..you are detained so if he has ID we have every right to look at it…..when you are stopped by a police officer you are required to give your name and DOB……..this is an investigative detention……if you want to leave and be free to go just give us your name and DOB……” = we have no idea of the law so we like to bark orders demand ID and go into your pockets to search you for no crime………..this supervisor is totally clueless.. i feel bad for the rookie officers learning from this clown….. we just want to ID you and see if you have warrants….. cops just can’t help their ego…….sadly the cop was too lazy to look up penal code 38.02
  • I’m uncomfortable with how he’s feeling you up. Why he keep touching your junk again and again
  • 7:40 “Why would I cooperate with someone who is treating me like a criminal, even though you already told me I didn’t do anything wrong?” They have NO clue where the disconnect with the public comes from smh
“I don’t know if you’re trying to do something bad”
“I don’t know if you have mental illness”
“I don’t know if you’re breaking the law”
You can hear the disappointment in the cop voice, he probably just learned that he really can’t arrest you 🤣
As egregious as this whole incident was, what bugs me the most is that knowing they are in the wrong and can’t ID Mr Turner, they keep him in handcuffs for one more attempt and then lecture him. At the point they knew they were wrong, those handcuffs should have been off and Mr Turner freed without a second’s delay. Instead, it was another four minutes between the Officer Copsplain approaching the car and Mr Turner being taken from it. If I was on the jury, those 4 minutes would have cost the city a million dollars.
Arrogant, stupid, bullying, cowardly. – Someone tell me again about all the ‘good cops’ there are. Not one of those pigs intervened to say that this was wrong. Not one. Fkng disgusting.
14:30 This copsplaining is hard to stomach, You are so strong dude, I think I would have projectile vomited hearing this crap!
“Cuffs are on by policy”. Isn’t it policy to only put them on law breakers?
>> Sadly no. Use of cuffs falls under “officer safety” you know, the guys with the guns, tasers, mace, bulletproof vests and batons. These guys are so easily scared.
I feel your pain on the cuffs, my wrist were jacked for a couple months after. I would randomly be cutting my food and drop my fork or knife at times. Thanks for standing up for your rights and ours!
The cop-splaining went into overdrive after they figured out that they were way out of line. You are and have always been one of my favorite auditors due to the way you handle your business. All of those screaming and obvious baiting guys have become tiresome. I do enjoy the way you handle cops and your explanations of the circumstances to us. Thanks for all thast you do Phillip!
Did you know that saying “suspicious” three times in the same statement makes it more legitimate? NO! That boss sure seemed to think so. Lol
Did you notice the camera guy was still in those painful handcuffs while the cop has the audacity to not only try to copspain away his illegal activities but he also stands above him, looking down at him like a parent with an unruly child, and lectures AT him for a while. Just another power trip thing. He knows that person wouldn’t stand around and listen to such BS. The cop stepped in it and he was trying to wipe his shoes on the guys t-shirt.
I love how the cops always pull the “you may have a medical condition ” and we may have to have you checked out. Once those words are spoken, you have the cops scared.
“How are you expecting this to play out?” I expect you to know, follow and uphold the law, Officer. If you cannot or will not do so, I expect you to either relieve yourself of duty or be relieved.
This is what happens when you live in a society that requires the person who cuts your hair to have more of an education than the ones who are given a gun and told to uphold law and order and protect and serve the people. I wish a university would do a deep dive study into the personality types who become cops. There are plenty of good cops but we have a abundance of evidence that certain types of people go into law enforcement because they feel it gives them power over people.
That part at the end where the officer says “you can buy a copy of the report”… That’s the exact reason we need to record. They put layers of red tape and can deny FOIA requests for whatever bs reason they come up with. It’s always funny how when people want body Cam footage it takes forever to get released but if the footage clears an officer it’s out immediately.
Did I hear that correct? The settlement was $5500? If so, that is a rounding error for a department that size. They spend twice that annually on fuel for just one patrol vehicle.

Police Gives Ticket for 10% over Speed Limit without knowing the Speed Limit

Police Refuse to Accept they were Wrong:

Police must get ID, even if stop was unwarranted

Comments

Cop: you’re speeding!
Driver: whats the speed limit here?
Cop: I don’t know.
The cop doesn’t know the speed on the road but he knows he was speeding 🤦🤣
He didn’t know what the speed limit was but he was sure that he was going 10% faster than what he didn’t know. Huh?
Claiming he was going 10% over the posted speed limit is pretty specific when the officer didn’t know what the posted speed limit was.
10% over the speed limit? For 2-2.5 mph over the speed limit? Wow!

Another officer, a Sgt no less, who believes he can stop anyone he wants to anytime he wants to just to check their ID!! This is crazy! Auditors are def making a difference by educating citizens about their rights, but sometimes it seems like the officers are getting WORSE!

The driver was not guessing his speed as the cop inferred. He had it in the screen in front of him. They can pace someone for speeding but the driver is right, they cannot gauge it from sitting still. Cop was mad because he was proven wrong and then the guy knew his rights. Egos in policing is dangerous and deadly!
“I’ll LET you go.” Mighty fine of him to let him go esp. since he committed no crime. Tyrants!
I really believe the cops are gaming the public with you must show ID even if there is no violation. That many cops can’t be that misinformed. What I think is happening is its a nation wide campaign to keep saying it until the public believes it and then slide it in there and make it an actual law.
The problem is that cops are never wrong, they don’t know how to acknowledge any mistake, infact the opposite happens when they are wrong and get called on it they usually escalate and start manufacturing a crime to justify their wrong doings… Sick….
😀 Dude told the cop “You need to be recalibrated”.🤣🤣🤣. Love it! Great job.
@Tempus Fugit  That’s a very idealistic point of view. But I’m sorry to inform you that in the real world, the citizen doesn’t often win an argument he insists in having on the side of the road. No I’m no boot licker and I’m no push over. I assure you I’ve made my displeasure and my resistance known in more than one occasion. In the case of this video, the guy lucked out that the cop was pulling the speeding charge out of his ass because he realized he was wrong about the phone and he happened to have gotten caught on the fact that he didn’t know what the speed limit was. AND the supervisor that responded happened to be a reasonable guy and want looking to just jack with a citizen. He made a half-assed attempt to claim they can just stop random drivers to check their drivers license. When it was obvious he wasn’t getting away with it, the supervisor let him go. But I assure you, had the supervisor had his ego as invested as the officer did, that driver would have either coughed up his DL or he would have been a guest of the county for a while. Right wrong or indifferent, it’s up to the cops how that encounter ends. Luckily, he argued his point and the supervisor decided it wasn’t worth it to take it all the way because his guy was wrong. But make no mistake, had he decided to back his officer, he would have been ordered out of the vehicle. Had he refused, he would have been taken out of the vehicle. Just that noncompliance could lead many judges to decide that he was resisting and obstructing by refusing a lawful order to exit. Who knows what he would decide on the citations. But, I’d be willing to bet a judge would find that it was a lawful stop initially because cops are allowed to make a mistake like thinking he was holding his phone. And from there, the officer doesn’t need any justification to ask the driver to exit the vehicle. His refusal to do so buts himself a ride to county. Is that fair? Nope. But it’s not up to you or the driver to declare it an unlawful stop or to decide when it became decided that he had made an error about the phone. His resistance in such an excessive manner could be seen by the judge as reasonable suspicion to continue investigating. It all depends on how the judge interprets his actions and the actions of the officer. But it seems like you’re if the mindset that any time a citizen believes he hadn’t committed the infraction he was stopped for that he can then lawfully defy lawful orders based on his belief that they’re unlawful due to his belief that he didn’t commit the infraction. Doesn’t work that way. If it did, everybody would just say “no I wasn’t speeding. Wasn’t me. “. And then the cop has to say “ok maybe it wasn’t you. I guess there’s nothing else I can do since you say you didn’t do it. Have a nice day”. As much as that would be awesome, it’s just not realistic and would make it impossible for cops to do anything. Bottom line, the guy rolled the dice and hit so was able to leave. He just as easily could have crapped out and had his day turn south real quick. You’re free to roll those dice too, of course. But if you think you’re going to win every time in a situation like that, you’re crazy. Not saying the cop was in the right or would have been to arrest him. He was just following policy which I guarantee states that he woulda had done explaining to do if he’d made a stop and didn’t even get the guys DL. Don’t like that policy? Fine. Petition your elected officials to try n get it changed. Aside from that, the cop is going to insist on that DL every time
If a officer wants to violate your rights he is forsure going to do so, this is why I’d say allow him to violate your rights and record it so you will have all the evidence you need because if we don’t hold them accountable then it’s only going to get worse.
My opinion is the supervisor knew this stop could go sideways and get crazy. The time and effort in making this man show id will be more problematic then its worth and this driver was committed to standing his ground. Cop was professional and explained his opinion well but needs to stop the crack addiction. ( ID ) that is.
Cops saying “I’m not gonna argue with you,” is cop speak for: I know I’m wrong, but I’m a cop and I’ll do what the fuck I want, and if you want to pursue it, I have qualified immunity so I’ll be just fine.
I would have pointed out that there was no way he would know if you were speeding if he didn’t know what the speed limit was in the first place.
The supervisor didn’t know the law either, as he said that it was legal to ask to see the drivers license, but at least he let the man drive off after having lost a much too long time for nothing due to a lying LEO not knowing the law (as usual)
Looking at this cop should communicate what’s driving him is far more than fabricating a traffic violation to check for warrants.
So the supervisor thinks we live in 1030’s Nazi Germany? That’s basically what he’s saying when he said they can stop anyone to verify driver’s license’s. Sorry buddy but you’re flat out incorrect at the highest level!
This was an honest mistake by the supervisor. He accidentally thought he was in Nazi Germany and could demand papers at any time.

THIS IS THE DEAL .
“I placed him in handcuffs”
“Why?
“Safety”
“What was the safety concern?”
“He was resisting”
“What was he resisting?”
“Being placed in handcuffs” FBLG💩👮‍♂ & F👢L

At the end of the day ; coppa needs to make a ticket , to reach his quota – IMO . DISGRACEFUL.
The really scary part is the “supervisor” thinks they can pull anybody over for ZERO reasons ! American Police thinking on full display
The officer said I can’t dispute your truth, which means he has nothing and he should just let you go, that’s exactly what that means
perfect handling of a common police harassment

Cop Attempts to Ticket Motorist for Speeding without knowing Speed Limit

The cop didn’t know what the speed limit is BUT he knows he was going 10% over the limit. Amazing precision amidst ignorance.
7:45 – if I was a traffic judge, as soon as the officer said he didn’t know what the speed limit was at that point, I’d instantly dismiss the ticket and reprimand the officer. How do you know he was going 10% over, without radar, and without knowing the actual speed limit?!
Instead of just owning the mistake, he knowingly backs his officers lies with more lies, and they wonder why citizens don’t like them.
Cop admits when retelling his story, “I pulled you over BECAUSE of the phone.” Proof they hire the dumbest people they can find.
The worst part about a ticket like the one that could have been issued is that the officer wouldn’t show up to court so he wouldn’t have to be wrong. The police get paid overtime and get promotions based on tickets given, not convictions.
The cops are out of control in this country great job for the citizen for standing up for his rights we all need to do it
I love how cops lie and get caught still try to get your ID. this cop is dirty and should be fired.
This is a prime definition of “fishing”! If they get get us for their “interpretation of the laws”, we’re in really big trouble
Would it kill a supervisor to just come out and say “yeah, my officer was wrong. I’ll explain to him what he did wrong so it won’t happen again. Have a good day. You’re free to go”. No citizen would EVER mind hearing that.
Nope, almost never. They don’t want to deal with the civil liability (even though it’s our tax dollars that would be used in the settlement). So they will double down.
Ego won’t let them
I’ve very seldom heard a cop or other government employee admit being wrong or offer an apology.Their egos are to big.
The whole issue here is that once a cop says something no matter how stupid, he feels like he has to stick with it. No matter how stupid, no matter how you prove he was wrong. And the supervisor has to back him up no matter how petty and trivial the matter is.
Show the cop he’s wrong, he immediately moves the goalpost. Lying is all they know.
How that didn’t escalate into being ripped out of the drivers seat I’ll never know. Well done. You stood up for exactly what you felt was right.
He was white, that’s how
The camera is why, obviously. No cop will obey the law when nobody is looking. But some of the smarter ones will obey on camera.
The cop completely lost the argument when he admitted he didn’t actually know what the speed limit was. How do you know if someone is speeding if you don’t know the limit?
If the cops are ever harassing you, just run inside the nearest school. They will never enter a school to make an arrest.
Cops needs to be fired immediately. The sergeant even was making fun then tried to fabricate an id infraction.
What a waste of resources, I’d ask him to write me that ticket for 2.5mph over the limit, just to watch the judge call him an idiot. No judge is going to uphold 2.5 mph speeding charge based on visual estimation, and they should be pissed at any police officer who thinks that is worth the courts time.
This, even the pettiness and/or small impact, is a bridge event. Take nothing, give nothing. If the cop pushed at the 10%, and demanded identification, and went ahead and wrote the ticket… seems like a slam shut case of 18 242, especially with the 30 mph signage. Unfortunately, statistics on bad arrests/ unfounded ticketing/ ect. are not provided.
First said the guy was on the phone and officer said my mistake then the officer didn’t even know what the speed limit was. This officer absolutely is pulling people over for no reason. Then lie a officer that does this is corrupt period. Should be fired.
I’ll tell you exactly why that 2nd officer let him go. Because he knew that a man driving a Ford Raptor probably has the money to fight them and sue them.
It’s the camera. They can’t seize the footage, so they know they will be caught.
He should have mentioned to the “stupervisor” that’s the cop assumed he was going over 10% of the posted speed limit, but the officer couldn’t tell him what the speed limit was.
“We can stop you to check your license.” If that’s true we are all screwed.
he forgot to mention they can initiate a stop on a whim, then demand identity papers. It’s down to the character and fortitude of their target whether there is challenge to the validity of the stop…
Ironic how the officer stated that he was driving over the speed limit, yet doesn’t know the speed limit himself. He then states with 100% certainty that he was driving 27.5 mph, and then we find out the speed limit is 30 mph.
@Michael Dose  Arkansas is a stop and ID state on one condition and that’s loitering!! They will use that everytime to get your ID!!! You can park your car in Walmart parking lot, immediately get out and walk to the doors and they will call that loitering just to ID you!!! That is no joke!!!
@The Nope  They took Sandra Bland to jail. I think I will ‘comply or die’.
I don’t know of any which allows them to arbitrarily pull people over in Texas. However, Texas is the ONLY state I’m aware of that has a law which allows officers to take ANYONE to jail on ANY traffic infraction. It is of course officer discretion but I don’t know of ANY other state with that law. If I’m wrong I would like to know.

If there were No Camera, How would these Georgia Police treat a black man?

This auditor uncovers a big red flag when he  tests a town’s respect for civil rights by:

  • visiting the town hall and issuing a Freedom of Information Request
  • filming in a parking lot and attempting to file a complaint

Viewer Comments:

  • Remember this is being done to someone that knows his rights on a camera. Imagine the things they do to citizens that don’t know their rights off camera.

  • The way they treat him is gross, but what’s really nauseating is how much they squirm at not being able to treat him worse.
  • Props to WJCL for uploading this video at length. Great news agency.

  • The guy that integrated cameras into cellphones has done more for civil rights by accident than any politician has done for civil rights on purpose.
  • This is normal behavior and, what is soooo disturbing is how much they want to lock this guy up. This is what the police departments do all across the US and cell phones have documented their behavior for everyone to see.
  • to the lady in the office, 10/10 you deserve a promotion. FAULTLESS.

How it should have gone down.
Caller: There’s a stranger in the parking lot.
Police: what’s the problem?
Caller: He’s videotaping.
Police: That’s not a crime.
Caller: But it’s creepy.
Police: That’s not a crime either. Call us back when you actually see a crime committed.

  • Okay, hear me out. There are so many of these videos here on Youtube. Always the same exact scenario where the cop throws a fit about a guy with a camera doing absolutely nothing illegal. I’m just an old washed up dart player but I even know what you can and cannot do with a camera and I would even know, depending on what state you live in that you can’t demand ID from someone who is doing nothing wrong. So basically WTF is wrong with all these cops? Is it an ego thing? I definitely feel like the Chief is the type who feels he is above the law. “His parking lot” over and over. First of all, it’s not “his” parking lot. He doesn’t own it and works for the people. This shit pisses me off! Cops apparently need MUCH better training than they have now.

  • It seems like a common theme with all of these videos, the police demand and overstep and when the auditor shows their knowledge the cop doesn’t usually correct themselves. They usually always try to stick to their wrong argument. It only makes it worse for them, it makes them look like they have massive egos.
  • All across the United States, police departments are getting educated. It is just a shame that the public has to do it.

  • like others have said, if they’ll act like this in front of someone who verbally told them he’s a JOURNALIST with a camera in their face, imagine what they do/how they act towards other people off camera
  • The guy that integrated cameras into cellphones has done more for civil rights by accident than any politician has done for civil rights on purpose.
  • When your an officer who is following the law, you have no issue identifying yourself even on camera. An officer who is required to identify to the public and doesn’t knows they have done something wrong. Go above him and have him fired.
  • Wow….I’m in law enforcement and this was hard to watch. Definitely on the side of the cameraman here, who knew his stuff and carried himself with dignity. The police were terrible- ignorant and worse, likely deliberately obstructive. And yes, they absolutely were bullies. If they had just behaved like the city clerk, (professionally) probably none of us would be watching this video. Very sad….
  • This type of behavior from a public employee is terrifying and dangerous, public employees are funded by citizens but yet they try to bully us around and talk to us like that, completely disgusting for a police chief. If corporate showed up at my job and I acted like this in front of them I would no longer have a job… Completely shameful to your own family and to your country.

  • “My employees”, “my parking lot”, and “my building”. That’s what the so called Chief said. He needs to understand absolutely none of that belongs to him! The staff are public servants and the property belongs to the people!
  • I’ve lost count how many times I’ve had similar experiences from small town police officers. It’s plainly evident why so much public trust has been eroded in regards to law enforcement.
  • I was in the army and ive seen what bad leadership ruin a platoon of soldiers. Your right about it starting from the top and bleeding down into the rest. I cant stand cops like this and it gets me so angry watching these videos that my hands start to shake. I give you alot of credit for handling this so smoothly and professionally. I hope this is updated with a good happy video. These guys are crazy.

  • I’m from Savannah, Ga 20 mins away and we don’t messed with Pooler police they are rude and have nasty behavior. Imagine not knowing the laws and how many ppl they arrested over stupid stuff.

  • Thank you for doing this it’s hard here in georgia. People need to see this stuff. Its awful, people can be taken into custody here without warrants or cause and no due process and any atonney you get charges more than you can afford to get the legal help you need and they are on the same payroll if they are pro bono. The DOJ hasn’t the time to deal with individual cases of civil rights violations outside prison walls. So any entity of law enforcement can go unchecked on taking advantage of people or their families here in georgia
  • I live in Pooler and can absolutely confirm these guys are an egotistical bunch
  • This is why I moved out of Georgia. The corruption in the southeast part of Georgia is insane. Long County, Liberty County is worse then this. And for the Pooler Police Chief to act in this manner is grounds for immediate termination with charges of violating civil rights while under oath.
    • Turner County Georgia was a known speed trap for years. I think they finally got caught
  • This is basically most small towns in the US. “My parking lot” “My lobby” “My building” as the Chief of Police says. and they get away with it day in and day out. Its disgraceful
  • It’s unprofessionalism and ignorance from the top down. You can tell there is a lot of unlawful things going around in the city of Pooler. This is disgusting
  • How do cops still not know when they can or can’t request ID. Seems like basics for their job.
    • They know, they just don’t want the public to know… It is best to learn the law’s for your County, City and state. I have I am in Georgia and know this fact! Those clowns need to be investigated!!!!!
  • Accepting his own compliant then decides for himself he can just make it invalid ? That’s tyranny in every sense. Update ?
  • This type of behavior from a public employee is terrifying and dangerous, public employees are funded by citizens but yet they try to bully us around and talk to us like that, completely disgusting for a police chief. If corporate showed up at my job and I acted like this in front of them I would no longer have a job… Completely shameful to your own family and to your country.

  • Good thing you’re recording them because they probably would’ve been a lot more aggressive with you thanks for doing this
  • The chief looked like he wanted to beat the crap out of him! Thank the camera. I feel bad for his wife when he gets home 🤕
  • It’s unprofessionalism and ignorance from the top down. You can tell there is a lot of unlawful things going around in the city of Pooler. This is disgusting

  • The scary part of all of this is when we realize that these people write reports on people that a judge reads in a court of law.
  • That cop with the glasses knew where this was going and wanted no part of it lol
  • I love how cops try to make people do as they say simply because they have that uniform. Cops like this bring such shame to their title.
  • It sickens me that public servants allow that police are trained to bully and not to obey constitutional law and rights of those they serve
  • I love to watch cops search for a reason to get you to comply… First they say you can’t be here, then they say it’s private property, then they tell you it’s trespassing, then they try to tell you you can’t film into restricted areas from public. Watching you shoot down everyone of their attempts is hilarious. Really makes our cops look inept
    • dont forget this one….’YOUR MAKING PEOPLE UNCOMFORTABLE’
  • I hate how they always demand ID, often for no reason even when they KNOW they are dealing with someone who either knows the law or chooses to enforce their constitutional right.
  • That is pretty crazy. Would not believe law enforcement believes they can legally do that to a law abiding citizen. What a shame.
  • This is why auditors are so important. 💕
  • Watch an actual boatload of these in the UK. Knowing what we do about US pigs, big up to you, man. UK auditors would never have left the building, but I totally understand why you would in America. Before you know it, we’d have a body bag, a lost camera, no body worn camera footage, and an F-ton of lies. Respect. 👊❤
  • The city clerk and both security guards know more about constitutional law and rights, than the ones who swore an oath to protect those very same rights.
  • “This is the public lobby, you’re gonna kick me out of the public lobby too, chief?” That part was so funny to me. 😂
  • Utterly pathetic behavior! They’re supposed to be “law” enforcement, not “feelings” enforcement.
  • As much as I think this guy on camera is being a pain in the ass, at the same time, I appreciate that we have rights in this country and law enforcement officers are public servant who have to obey the laws themselves and follow the protocols.
  • “We need backup immediately, this guy keeps talking about his rights”
  • Without taking this to court. NOTHING will happen or change.
  • Did they get away with bullying you? That’s at least debatable. It depends on, if you let them get away. There should be a follow up. Like you said, go above the Chiefs head. Ok, excellent job on the video, overall. Just one small note, the guards from the court house, didn’t treat you the same as everyone else. They held you up, from your Right, even if it was just for a short moment.
  • Notice his he said “get out of ‘my’ parking lot.” It’s because that’s how he sees it he believes that’s ”his” building “his” employees when really it’s “our” parking lot and “our” building that’s a big part of the problem
  • Don’t assume the mayor doesn’t go along with this. The citizens of Pooler have to push back against the mayor and City Council and anyone else who approves the appointments to City positions.
  • ugh, these cops are so ignorant and power hungry. love to the auditors for taking the time to educate cop gangs. I pray the auditors get law representation to gain awareness and better protection. I blame the us Supreme Court for ruling cops don’t actually have to know the law they enforce at the point of a gun and gang behavior.
  • i love how much they back down and run away when they realise you know your rights
  • Whilst I can understand the frustration of those officers, they really do need to be up to date in what is and is not allowable under the law. They looked chumps as they were in the wrong.
  • Guy says – “I am just an employee here.”, but he is wearing a badge on his belt. They don’t issue badges to “just employees”. Only sworn officers receive badges.
    •  @Kirk Callender  I thought that too but he gave his name and badge number when asked then later took the badge off. I’m pretty sure he lied.
    •  @Fly Over Radio  Exactly what I was gonna say. He gave his name and number and identified as a policeman. If he wasn’t then why was he surrounding him with the other cops? Seems like he knows police intimidation tactics/practices.
  • These are the kind of thuggish cops which you encounter regularly in these types of jurisdictions. The local citizens are typically afraid to stand up to them since this is, quite frankly, all they know.
  • He investigated himself and found he did nothing wrong! Think…if they treated a law abiding citizen like this, how do they treat suspects?
  • These “tough guys” are the same cowards who run AWAY from danger.
  • Would like to see your complaints being addressed by the Mayor!
  • The lady in the office should be the Police Chief.
  • I’ve been robbed, assaulted, publicly harassed, crashed into, threatened with guns, etc. Never once did the police catch any of the people who did these things, unless it required the absolute minimum effort because the person who crashed into me totaled their car. Conversely, I’ve been harassed & intimidated by police semi-regularly throughout my life -just because they were bored & feeling the need to bully. The only time I met a nice officer was when my mom was dating him when I was a kid. Thus to me, the vast majority of cops are lazy/incompetent and the rest are bullies.
  • Im 60 and every interaction I’ve had with Police has been a difficult one throughout my life. Ive always been treated like a criminal every time… Trying to acuse me of things i haven’t done or downright lying to me for no reasons at at. No benefit to anyone, just an excuse to stand over and intimidate me because im an ugly man…if i was a blonde woman with a lovely face it would be completely different.
  • It’s never “one or two bad apples”. Corrupt and outright evil policing either starts at the top, or is stopped from there.
  • Cops never say the full text: A few bad apples “spoil the whole barrel”.
  • The cameras just changes the games. Without a camera this guy will be on jail.
  • 13:21 “How do I file the complaint if I can’t get into the building?” Damn that’s helllla funny
  • “I’m a police officer. I asked you for your ID. I need you to give me your ID.” The correct response is: “I’m a citizen. I haven’t done anything wrong. I need you to kick rocks.”
  • The shame of it is the city attorney said they acted appropriately. The chief and locals also say they acted appropriately. The locals are probably terrified to do anything because they’ll be arrested
    • Pooler is just out side of Savannah where I lived for over 20 years and everyone knows that the Pooler police will write tickets for the most minor and insignificant infractions. For example, there was a women giving a ticket for driving while distracted because while she sat at a red light she took one hand off the steering wheel to take a bite of a sandwich.
    • So the City attorney agreed that it was proper for the Sgt. to demand ID with no RAS, that it was legal to trespass him out of the parking lot, that it was proper to restrict his access to city services because he was recording, that he was required to identify himself in a public complaint, that it was proper for the Sgt. to accept the complaint on his superior officer? Are you sure he was really an attorney or maybe he just plays one on TV? I guess he will have a second crack at these question in court. As Mr. T would say, “I pity the fool.”
  • They have been doing this for so long and getting away with it.
  • I’m Black, so if l went in there, l probably wouldn’t be able to leave for about 15 to years…..
  • Imagine how they treat the prisoners
  • I like how men with guns and tasers always say someone’s making them feel uncomfortable 😂😂
  • Officers took an oath to uphold their State and Federal Constitutions, which means affirming the constitutionally protected rights of US citizens. The law-abiding citizen has no obligation to provide ID under such circumstances, it is the police who have to jump over the legal hurdles such as reasonable suspicion and probable cause to detain, ask for ID, or arrest. I developed training on this for officers as far back as 2014, even then officers did not like the idea of having limited power in such situations. Ego maybe? Unfortunately, more training and regular training are needed nationwide in this area, which would save a lot of grief, embarrassment, and tax dollars. This was an unnecessary power struggle between the officers, the Chief, and the filmer. Regardless of the filmer’s true intentions, his rights should be affirmed. The fact that the police are called, that someone doesn’t like the filmer lawfully being there, doesn’t override the filmer’s constitutional rights. Once the filmer’s lawful status is determined, they should be free to carry on, without interference.
  • I can only imagine what these small town cops do to people . That is a real bad State a Canadian woman was arrested her car towed and she was put in jail. The small town cop who didn’t know that Canadians are allowed to drive in the USA with there Canadian drivers license just like Americans are allowed to drive in Canada with there US license
  • Q: Are your a detective, or a sergeant? A: I’m just an employee, man. An employee who is fronting with a badge on his hip, and previously gave his badge number … “just an employees” don’t have badges. Dude was definitely a detective, and lied … though, ironically, it’s legal for the police to lie.
  • the “employee” with the beard and glasses is just as guilty as the sergeant and the chief by his omission to act. he witnessed the behaviour of the sergeant and the chief and was complicit in their actions. he probably knows that the chief and the sergeant are a pair of idiots and thought no way am i getting involved with this. he`s the type of guy that disappears in a bar room brawl.
  • I understand why and what you are doing and strongly believe doing so is an important audit of public employees. If you want to report on this unconstitutional behavior it is my opinion it would be much better done without the descriptive editorializing (“tyrant, Bully, making fun of someone’s name) which reduces the effectiveness of the reporting and appears childish. This audit work is important yet diminished in it’s reporting by this.
