What’s your Kipsang number and Beer Mile Time?
As those who read our last installment will recall, a person’s Kipsang number is how long they could keep up with the former world-record holder, Wilson Kipsang, when he was running a marathon. I suggested that the typical college varsity athlete or professional basketball, baseball or football player would have a Kipsang number of somewhere between four hundred and eight hundred metres.
.. On Saturday, in San Francisco, is the epic Beer Mile showdown between the three fastest beer milers in history. For those unfamiliar with this sport, it’s drink a beer, run a lap, chug another beer, run another lap, and so on, until you have had four beers and run a mile. The world-record holder, Lewis Kent, can do that in 4:55, which might be the most jaw-dropping performance I’ve ever heard of.
