Peedom says that she hopes the final film will give people a better understanding of who the Sherpa people are, and respect for the risks that they take. “The hope is that better regulation will come to the mountain,” she explains. “Proper minimum wages, and better regulations about the sizes of the loads Sherpas need to carry. What became evident is that many of the Sherpas were carrying way too much weight… for some, double the regulation weight. That was heartbreaking.”
.. “Everest has been in the news recently, and time and time again the Sherpas just aren’t recognized in their role,” she says. “I would hope that if people are thinking of climbing it, they will watch.”
