Event-driven Data or: How I Learned to Stop Living in the Present and Travel Through Time

What if, instead of historical information being an afterthought, we made it a first-class citizen of the database and designed a solution around it? Instead of storing ever-changing data, we stored immutable events which the application could dynamically interpret and present back to the user in whatever way was needed?
