Anti-Semitic Anti-Zionism

The movement of “Corbynistas” — an alliance of young leftist dreamers and old guard Leninists who have demolished Tony Blair’s centrist “New Labour” as comprehensively as Trump has hijacked the Republican Party — embraces an ideology. It’s anti-American and anti-Western and broadly anti-capitalist, much in the mode of Cold War Soviet sympathizers.

Trumpism, by contrast, is an anger-driven, conspiracy-fueled, scapegoat-manipulating, ideology-free movement dedicated to the elevation by any means of one man, portrayed as a savior, to the most powerful office in the world.

.. Corbyn is not really interested in power because power involves compromise and he is a self-regarding purist of the worst kind.

.. But when Corbyn and his extreme left backers engage in what the British political theorist Alan Johnson has called “anti-Semitic anti-Zionism,” something far more coherent and ideological is at work.

A cross-party parliamentary committee concluded this month that Corbyn has created a “safe space” for “those with vile attitudes towards Jewish people,” and that Labour’s passivity before anti-Semitic incidents risked “lending force to allegations that elements of the Labour movement are institutionally anti-Semitic.”

.. He has attended an event organized by a pro-Palestinian group founded by an avowed Holocaust denier, Paul Eisen. He has permitted the word “Zio” — an anti-Semitic term used by the Ku Klux Klan — to become the modish slur in Labour circles on campuses and elsewhere.

Trump Accuses Clinton of Guiding Global Elite Against U.S. Working Class

“We’ve seen this firsthand in the WikiLeaks documents in which Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors,”

.. The remarks drew criticism from some who said they resembled prejudicial language used by anti-Semites.

.. “Whether intentionally or not, Donald Trump is evoking classic anti-Semitic themes that have historically been used against Jews and still reverberate today,” Jonathan Greenblatt, the chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, a group that fights discrimination, said in a statement.

.. “Mr. Trump focused on the very issues and themes that obsess conspiratorial anti-Semites: They believe that there is an elite group of Jews who control the media, the government, and banking, and who are trying to destroy white America,” he said. “They also believe that most of Hillary Clinton’s donors are Jewish.”

Trump’s son-in-law under fire from family

Jared Kushner’s family denounces his use of their Holocaust history to defend the GOP nominee against charges of anti-Semitism.

But Kushner’s estranged relatives are angry about his decision to invoke their grandparents’ story as Holocaust survivors — and they let it be known on social media, complete with a few typos.

.. I don’t think Trump is an antiSemite; I think he’s a lying idiot (among other things) with little to no experiences outside his teetering fiefdom of failed development projects, divorces, bankrupted sports leagues, fraudulent ‘Universities’ and golf courses (and the list keeps going). The very first thing a responsible campaign manager should do, I’d think, and I mean the very first thing, would be to take away his father-in-law’s Twitter account. Even Joseph Kushner would’ve had the street smarts to figure that one out while living on boiled potatoes in the forest.”

.. This family spat is part of an ongoing family feud that dates back to the case that put Jared Kushner’s father in jail 10 years ago. In fact, the parents of both Marc Kushner and Jacob Schulder were corroborating witnesses for the government—in a case prosecuted by Chris Christie, the former U.S. attorney for New Jersey who is now a top Trump campaign adviser—in that case against Charlie Kushner, Jared’s father and a Manhattan real estate tycoon, who was sent to prison in 2005 for tax evasion, witness tampering and illegal campaign contributions.

Attacked by Trump, Mexicans look to Jewish groups for help

The Mexican community needs to polish its image to the point that “there has to be some sort of cost if you attack Mexico or Mexican Americans,” added Siegel Vann, who is Mexican-American and Jewish. “The moment that there’s attacks, that Mexicans are called rapists, there has to be some sort of national outrage.”

.. “Those who want to make a political profit stigmatizing these people, be [they] Mexican, Jews, Muslims, people of color, Asians are wrong for this country was founded on the very principle, the self-evident truth that all men and women are endowed with the same unalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” she said.

.. In March, a group of business leaders set up the American Mexico Public Affairs Committee to lobby lawmakers and educate U.S. voters about the two countries’ relationship. The group is modeling itself after AIPAC

.. American Jews have a long history of political activism, especially on civil liberties, and Jewish organizations have been at the forefront of condemning Trump for his many comments about Mexicans, Muslims and other minorities.

.. He then joked that a plane buzzing overhead could be from Mexico and “getting ready to attack.” He also gave a backhanded compliment to Mexicans, saying: “I respect their leaders. What they’ve done to us is incredible. Their leaders are so much smarter, so much sharper.”
