GPS has literally changed the way that they see the land they farm. One of the first devices they used was a
GPS-linked yield monitor, introduced to them by Auburn University agronomist Paul Mask. The monitor was installed on the combine, along with a GPS antenna. Once each second, the monitor
recorded how much corn, beans, or wheat was being harvested and
linked the yields with precise locations in the field. The result: a map showing which parts of the field produce best and which produce worst.
