A while back, I showed how to quote Realvideo. I'd be interested in seeing a similar process for quoting Google Video

A quotable moment from last night's show with Alberto Gonzalez occured at 24:02.

Charlie Rose: Senators like Lahey and others including Republicans have said we did not, in voting for that force resolution, vote for any wireting; and it was specific that we did not; and by having a wiretapping provision in congressional legislation it was even more apparent.

Alberto Gonzalez: Well of course we are a nation of written laws not a nation of intentions of specific individuals in congress. Those of us who operate under the laws, members of the judiciary, we have to look at the written text what did congress say in the words that they used not what they think that they passed or what they think in their hearts they were passing.

Update

It looks like google uses javascript to call up specific portions. It would be nice to see a URL api.

The long-term goal is that an ISP could set up one file like this for each of their clients, and allow packages to be installed somehow (probably client-local via ~/.pydistutils.cfg), and each client gets an application server of some sort (could be paster, but it could be whatever... the API for getting a WSGI app from a config file is very simple). I also want to set up a #! line that will turn any config file into a CGI script, among other things. In general, how the app server works is something yet to be determined.

Personal Savings Rate Falls to Minus 0.5%

The soaring oratory of President George W. Bush's State of the Union address came in the same week as a rather more banal statistic: The personal savings rate of Americans fell below zero for the first time since the Great Depression. The Commerce Department report that Americans spent more than they saved in 2005, with the result that the national savings rate stood at minus 0.5 percent, did not make front-page news. But as an image of a country living beyond its means, it is powerful.

Postage Is Due for Companies Sending E-Mail

Soon companies will have to buy the electronic equivalent of a postage stamp if they want to be certain that their e-mail will be delivered to many of their customers.

America Online and Yahoo, two of the world's largest providers of e-mail accounts, are about to start using a system that gives preferential treatment to messages from companies that pay from 1/4 of a cent to a penny each to have them delivered.
